Tribute Gifts

Many donors choose to honor or memorialize a loved one, mentor, or fellow classmate with a gift that pays tribute to that individual’s passion for West Chester University.

There are multiple ways to make your own commemorative gift.

Make a Tribute Gift

Tribute Gifts

Make a Gift to an Existing Fund

Your gift can benefit existing funds like the University-wide Purple and Gold Fund, which addresses the strategic goals of WCU, or scholarships that propel success for deserving students with financial need.

You can also direct your tribute gift to a specific area of interest, including any athletics team or the school or college of your choice.

Establish a Named Tribute Fund

If you would like to deepen your tribute by naming a scholarship or fund, our Foundation will work with you to make it possible.

Named Tribute Scholarship Fund

Create a named scholarship of your choosing. Requires a gift or pledge of $10,000 or more.

Named Endowed Tribute Fund*

Build lasting impact with a stewarded endowment that will bear your chosen commemoration for up to five years. Requires a gift of $25,000 or more.

Contact the Foundation

If you choose to make a tribute gift, please contact our Foundation to confirm your intent. You will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation, and an acknowledgement letter will be mailed to the honoree’s family to notify them of your gift.

For Obituaries & Eulogies:

Some individuals ask that donations be made benefitting WCU in memory of them or their loved ones. If you choose to do so, we suggest the following wording:

“In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to West Chester University Foundation, in memory of <Name>. Please make checks payable to WCU Foundation, Memo: In Memory of <Name>, and mail to 202 Carter Drive, West Chester, PA 19382. Gifts can also be made through the Foundation’s secure website at go.wcufoundation.org/donate/tribute.”
