The WCU Foundation is committed to supporting our Student Veterans and ROTC Cadets. We work hard to award as many scholarships to as many deserving students as possible. Thanks to the contributions of our generous donors who support the goals of our outstanding Student Veterans and our exceptional ROTC students, we were able to award 28 scholarships totaling over $23,000 in the 2015-16 academic year. We THANK YOU for your ongoing commitment!
Since the WCU ROTC program’s induction in 2009, we have seen tremendous growth and support. Beginning with just six students, today our program hosts 42 trainees and the expansion is only going to continue. Our University is also considered home to over 300 student Veterans.
As our ROTC program and the number of student Veterans attending WCU continues to grow, the percentage of these students who have financial need is also increasing. Less than 10% of our cadets and Veterans are current scholarship recipients, but not for lack of qualification. Over the past 7 years, WCU Foundation has been working with WCU ROTC, the Veterans Center and WCU alumni and friends to secure scholarships for our ROTC and Veteran students. We are grateful for the tremendous amount of support we have received, however there is more work to be done.
A gift to the military scholarships at WCU will go directly to our students in need. Scholarship support is important both financially and as a source of encouragement for our students. Give today!
