Women in
Leadership & Service
A Focus on Scholarship and Mentoring
All women deserve the visibility and support they need to succeed. That’s why a committee dedicated to this cause launched Women in Leadership & Service (WILS) in 2009. Working under our Foundation’s guidelines, WILS is an initiative to inspire, educate, and encourage women at West Chester University — and you can help drive their continued success.

The WILS Mission
WILS works to increase funding that supports female students at West Chester University. It also increases the visibility of female leaders, mentors, and supporters of West Chester University. Through this work, WILS supports women, both by funding scholarships for recipients and by giving donors the ability to shape the future of women at WCU.
The WILS Student Scholarship
Each year, WILS awards a $5,000 annual scholarship to assist female students who demonstrate qualities of leadership and service, as evidenced by these requirements:
- Have held a minimum of three (3) leadership roles in campus or community organizations over the course of the applicant’s college experience
- Have completed 60 or more undergraduate credits at WCU as of the start of the upcoming Spring semester
- Have at least one remaining semester on campus after the upcoming Spring semester
- Are in good standing with the University
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.25
If you know someone at WCU who meets these requirements, direct her to apply online through WCU.

Alice’s Circle
Professional Mentoring
Alice’s Circle, is a 10-month mentoring program aimed at enhancing the growth of college women as they transition from their final year at WCU to their professional careers or graduate school.
Offered annually to a select number of high-achieving and academically talented women, Alice’s Circle pairs them with professional women mentors. These students also participate in sessions where they learn skills in resume writing, interviewing, work-life integration, networking, personal branding, and communication.
