An Invitation from the Dean
Over the past decade, the College of Business & Public Affairs has earned accreditations including from AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). At the same time, enrollment has almost doubled, and more than 750 new business and public affairs leaders receive their degrees each year.
The College boasts a world-class faculty in its ten academic departments. In addition, it is home to a number of highly-regarded research and service centers such as the Geographic Information Systems & Spatial Analysis Lab, the Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center and the affiliated Center for Social and Economic Policy Research.
Despite all of our accomplishments, the College is housed in some of the campus’s most outdated buildings. Academic space is old, faculty offices are cramped and shared among two or more faculty members, and there is limited space for modern business technology and pedagogies.
The Business & Public Affairs Center will resolve these problems and meet our space needs now and into the future. And the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agrees, committing $24 million to move this $39 million project forward. The University, too, has allocated $5 million to the project. But to cover the project’s remaining costs, we must raise $10 million from generous donors.
So I invite you to help us make this building a reality. Your financial support and willingness to encourage others to give will benefit generations of students.
Dean, College of Business & Public Affairs
