The PASSHE was established in 1982 and includes: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester Universities. Its mission is to provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in the liberal arts and sciences, and in the applied fields, including the teaching profession. PASSHE is proud to provide its students with a high quality education at the lowest possible cost.
Nearly 120,000 undergraduate and graduate, part and full-time, students attend PASSHE universities and nearly 90 percent are in-state students. In addition to offering high-quality academic programs, community development opportunities, and industry collaborations, more than 80 percent of PASSHE undergraduate degree graduates remain in Pennsylvania after graduation for their first job or to continue their education. PASSHE universities are proud to contribute significantly and deliberately to this region’s “brain gain.”
In addition to our student population, there are more than 652,000 PASSHE alumni, including nearly 500,000 who live in Pennsylvania. PASSHE is also the 13th largest employer in the state by employing more than 12,169 professional and support staff.
