Since its founding in 1871, West Chester University has transformed from a teachers college to a nationally-acclaimed comprehensive university enrolling some 16,000 students from Pennsylvania, the nation, and beyond. Over the decades, WCU's excellence in teaching and scholarship has prepared its 85,000 alumni to shape the future in careers ranging from the arts and sciences to an array of professions including business, education, law, and medicine.
To continue its upward trajectory, the University has created a new strategic plan to guide the institution for the next decade. The plan focuses on five themes; assuring student learning and academic excellence, enhancing student development, stewarding resources, advancing inclusion and equity, and building relationships with the community. Achieving the strategic plan’s ambitious goals will require financial resources. And with a commitment to keeping a WCU education affordable, philanthropy will be critical to fully realizing the plan’s potential.
So with confidence in its mission and plan, West Chester University has launched the Becoming More Campaign to raise $50 million. Campaign projects reflect the most important institutional needs as defined in the strategic plan including facilities to accommodate growth, endowment to provide long-term fiscal security and keep tuition within reach of students, and essential equipment, outreach activities and operations.
